Primary Colours

We have been learning about the primary colours - red, yellow, and blue.

The class has written some poems.

What is Yellow?

Yellow like the beautiful sun shining in your eyes.
Yellow like the cutest duckling eating off your hand.
Yellow like the flaming warm fire sitting in your house.
Yellow like a shooting star racing through the sky.
I don't like yellow.

Toby

What is Red?

Red is a bright maple leaf on a Canadian tree.
Red is a hot burning fire.
Red is a stop sign that warns us to stop.
Red is a shiny sweet apple.
Red makes me feel hot.

Angela

What is Blue?

Blue is the colour of a blueberry, it is my favourite food.
Blue is the colour of your lips when you are in the snow.
Blue is the sea when I swim in the waves.
Blue is the colour of our chairs at school.

Jodie

What is Yellow?

Yellow is the sun out in the morning.
Yellow is the happy big moon in the sky.
Yellow is a beautiful sunflower in the grass.
Yellow is a juicy, squeezy lemon.
I love yellow.

Pyre The Marmotte

Mrs Johnson went to the Pyrenees in France and bought back a marmotte. What is a marmotte? It is a mountain mouse who lives high in the mountains and feeds on grasses and plants. During winter they hibernate.
Room 3 have had a competition to name our marmotte. The winner was Oliver!
We are going to have turns taking Pyre home and showing him all the wonderful sights around Oakura.

Pyre has a book about his adventures in Room 3. Feel free to come in and see all the photos of Pyres' adventures with the children of room 3.

Edward and Pyre

First we went to a garden and we had a walk. There were beautiful and exotic flowers in the gardens. We had lunch and went on another walk and saw some goldfish. After that we went to the zoo and saw the lions and the rabbits. We saw a cockatoo that kept talking to us. We had another walk in a garden then had an icecream. When we got home Pyre and I watched a movie and then we had dinner and showed Pyre some fireworks. The fireworks shot up like angels, they were beautiful. Then we went to bed.
It was great to have Pyre for the weekend

Pyre and Olivia in Napier

"We're here Pyre." Pyre and I rushed inside to see what our bedroom looked like. Sally and Gordon showed us where it was. Then we went outside again, unpacked our bags and went to get fish and chips for dinner. I had chicken nuggets and ginger beer.

The next day I woke up and jumped into the shower. "Phew wee, that water smells like rotten potatoes!" We got dressed and went down to breakfast, yum, bacon, cereal and toast. Then Sally showed me her garden. There were roses, and little white English flowers that smelled very nice. I found tiny pink roses and the we found Sally's cat Spice. Spice was playing with the neighbours black cat. Spice jumped into all the flowers and squashed them. I went inside and played with Spice and their other cat Sugar.

The next day I went in the car for an adventure. We took lots of photos of Pyre.

When we were on our way to Napier I went into an icecream shop with Pyre. We took a photo and I had icecream on my nose. I purposely put icecream on my nose. Then we went back into the car.

When we left town we went to the park. Pyre had to be carried with my Mum. The we went to my Dad's friend Mike's house.

I like Napier
